A Pierce County Superior Court lawsuit filed against two state agencies who allegedly failed to protect the plaintiff from a sex offender when she was a child has been settled, with the state of Washington paying $2.35 million to the plaintiff, who is now 31-years-old.The lawsuit claimed that Danny Dorosky Sr. was a paroled child rapist, who, despite a Parole Board order for intensive management and supervision because of his sex crimes, was allowed to live with the family of a victim. Dorosky allegedly sexually abused the plaintiff for three years, starting in 1990 when she was 10.
The lawsuit also alleged that the Department of Social and Health Services Child Protective Services failed to protect her from Dorosky, even after school officials notified the department to report the child might be suffering sexual abuse.
Selena Davis, a corrections spokesperson, confirmed the $2.35 million settlement, though she was unable to comment on details of the case.
The plaintiff said she would like an apology from the state, and hopes that her lawsuit might lead to policy changes within the state that would prevent such supervision failures, the Seattle PI reported.’
