The only thing more traumatic to most children than the separation of parents is death. There are countless scientific studies that show that stability of the family home is of great importance in the healthy development of children.

If the parents must live apart, then the ideal outcome is the one that causes the least disruption in the lives of the children. It should never be a matter where children have to make a choice about what parent they love the most.

It can be difficult to obtain an ideal outcome. Often the reason is that parents can sometimes become quite selfish in these kinds of situations, and indulge in psychological games intended to harass their former partner. In this kind of situation, they may not be aware of the impact it has on the children, or they may be beyond caring.

Every family has a unique story, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Unfortunately, the Judge doesnt have time to get really familiar with the story of your family. Therefore, the solution that the court provides is not always what is in everyones best interests.

It is particularly troublesome when one parent wants to deny access to the other parent. Sometimes there are good reasons for this, and sometimes it is just a case of spite. These situations add more complexity to court proceedings and judges can sometimes make mistakes in their rulings due to misunderstandings.

Fathers are especially vulnerable to miscarriages of justice, because as much as Judges strive to be fair, cultural bias is difficult to overcome. Many assumptions are made on a cultural basis, such as that children are better off being with their mother, and that mothers provide more and better care. This may have been true 50 years ago, but we are well past the days where all mothers stayed at home to take care of the children and the fathers went out to work. Times have changed, but in general attitudes towards parental roles have remained frozen in the past.

Our family law experts excel at deciding out how to present the unique story of your family in a way that the court can understand and accept. This will provide the basis on which the court is far more likely to make a decision that achieves the best outcome.

Engaging a solicitor to do this work is expensive and a waste of money, often with no gains to be made. In fact, this is so much so that we get a lot of clients who have tried solicitors and have been disappointed with the results.

Together we can protect your rights and your childrens rights from any unreasonable encroachment, such as attempts to use the court system to unfairly deny you the right to have contact to your children.
